...aps and give them away as Christmas presents. They offer State Troopers beer when they are pulled over for speeding, or some other form of sheer stupidity such as driving with no doors. Southern men apparently to decorate their Christmas tree with car parts. Foxworthy gives southern men a bad name, and some of it may be true. However, these men are not all the way he describes them. Southern men are the nicest men one will ever meet. All of them have been born and raised with the best of manners. It doesn’t even matter if their family was poor or not. They have been brought up to be the biggest of gentlemen in the land. They tip their hat for the ladies and say, “Good day ma’m.” Everywhere in the south, one can see these same men opening doors for women, and always with a smile on their face. A southern man’s day could have been the worst day ever, yet he would still be the most polite person one has ever met. Every sentence said to a stranger is followed by a “Miss” or a “Sir,” and one man is twice as nice as the next. One of the cities in the South was named the most polite city in the nation, and that city was Charleston, South Carolina. There are some people who have a negative view on southern men. They think that “rednecks” do some things that other people would consider unorthodox. These “fabled people” from the South apparently have huge guts, and this is a result of heavy drinking. Men walk around all day in wife beater shirts and long pants, and all they do is scratch their privates. There are cars broken down on the lawn, recreational vehicles in the driveway, and everything is broken down. People from other regions think that a “redneck” is always drunk. Southern men walk around all day with a terrible accent, and spitting dip into a can or whatever receptacle happens to be present. Their furniture is covered with plastic, much like one would find in a low-income housing facility. These are all false images of a typical southern man. Every foreigner has their own opinion of a southern man, and very few of these ideas are even close to right. For a southern man, there is certain criteria one must meet. There are guidelines for the appropriate definition of a southern man, and the typical “redneck” will get offended if one misinterprets the definition. First, all southern men have the nicest of manners. Every man in the South will tip his hat to a woman, and he will do so a million times if necessary.
