In the beginning Daddy Glen demonstrates no signs of hate or abuse, buying girls presents and taking them places. Glen wants to love and be loved. Slowly, Glen’s behavior starts changing. He starts yelling at the smallest things, often blaming Bone for everything. Bone sees Glen looking at her, in strange and seductive way. This is Glen’s self-defense mechanism working against Bone. Glen who was brought up in a high-class family was brought up with high expectations. He is a complete failure in his father’s eyes. He is seeking for love, unconditional affection from a new family he became part of but discovered jealousy for Bone. He sees how Mama caresses and cares for her little girl. Glen’s anger turns into abuse until Aunt Alma notices immense scarring on the back of Bone’s legs. She immediately confronts Anney and shows her the scars.
