While skiing there is also wind, and snow a lot of the time. Where as in skating it is done either inside, where it is completely sheltered or outside, in a place sheltered by wind. In both sports there is equipment but obviously the equipment has to differ. The equipment in skiing is obviously used pertaining to the fact it’s an outdoor sport. Usually you would wear a ski jacket, and ski pants, as well as gloves, and a hat, or a helmet. And those are just the things to keep you warm. You also use skis, ski boots, and poles, as well as the bindings, which hold the boot to the ski. In skating you wear just normal clothes. You don’t need anything too keep you warm. Obviously you also need a pair of skates. Now sometimes you may need more, for instance if you are playing hockey. You would need pads, a stick, gloves, and a jersey, and even more if you are the goalie, if you are the goalie you would need to wear even more pads, a special stick which is much larger, and fatter on the blade than a normal one, as well as a pair of odd looking goalie gloves. As well as all else, skiing and skating are done with a different aspect as far as team and individual sports go. Skating is usually associated with hockey, which is a team sport, and team sports obviously are played in teams, with numerous people working together. Now this is good for some people who like to try and work with others to have fun and play their game, but for people who don’t, skiing would be a much better choice. Skiing is an individual sport, it is a sport where you display and use your own talent, and do your own thing, without hiding behind other people, and getting them to do things for you. In skiing you race down the hill on your own, and in your mind nobody is there, and you don’t need anybody helping you or telling you what to do, in order to accomplish the goal you have set for yourself. In skating you have to work with other people and listen to a coach, you know that there are people surrounding you, and telling you what to do, and you know you need the help of others to accomplish your goal.
