...was so steep that cars couldn’t get up it after it snowed. Every one in the neighborhood would try to make it down the hill, but few did. Any one who tried would get a few broken bones before actually getting all the way down. They would start going down on their butts and when they got close to the bottom they would stand up. Every time they would stand up a few feet back until they could get all the way down. When you got to the steepest section you felt like you were flying. There was the tiniest bump that you wouldn’t notice if you were walking or riding a bike, but on a skateboard, if you hit the bump you would go flying. It took a while to build up the skill to maneuver over the bump, and once you did that you were set. The only thing that would stop you would be your wheels breaking or a car turning the corner right before you got to the end. There was always the problem of making the skateboard better. They would spend hours hammering the skate, spread the wheels apart, doing everything you could to build a faster skateboard that you could stay on. They tried every single piece of wood that they could find to get better balance. Everyone who had a skateboard made it them selves, no one had the same one.
