This is because the RC Church has strict beliefs about sex before marriage and that sex should only be between two people (a male and a female) inside a loving, committed marriage. Therefore the RC Church would also strongly disagree with the ideas surrounding Situation Ethics, but even though Situation Ethics is a very flexible theory is it still a religious ethic. To a certain extent, this is a very harsh belief because, if a catholic couple love each other they may not wish to be married yet but should still be ‘allowed’ to have a sexual relationship without being criticised or judged. On the other hand, how can a celibate priesthood give moral guidance on sexual ethics when they do not have any experience or authority to do so? The priesthood may not understand that sex in a relationship can bring about more love and therefore lead to a successful and happy marriage for a couple.
