When I was watching that part, I noticed how he holds his sword and how he keeps absolutely still after killing the guy. But an ideal samurai is not greedy and does things like saving people or help people just to see that they are saved, and that was what exactly Matsu did to Sachi. There is another ideal samurai in the movie, Seven Samurai, and that ideal samurai is Kambei, the leader of the samurai and the strategist. You can see why he is the ideal samurai from the beginning, when he agrees to help the farmers. Farmers explains to Kambei that they can only give him food and shelter in return and nothing else. At that time, even though samurai had lived by bushido, they all wanted to get a position that will bring him honor or fame such as fighting in a big battle and kill a lot of men so the king or other generals can see that.
