Delta Air Is Testing Pay-For-Food Service Delta Airlines is conducting a limited test of selling food on its flights. If this takes liking with Delta’s passengers it might become standard on all Delta flights, since it does not include the price of meals on a ticket fares. Delta said this would help reduce costs and therefore lower ticket prices. However, Delta started charging $25 for passenger bags of 50 pounds and up, considering them overweight; this is a change from their previous standards and higher allowance of the weight. While Delta is cutting costs and lowering prices, raking the sales of their tickets and improving customer satisfaction new weight allowance policy may get their efforts nullified. Delta is serving two masters – their customers and their shareholders. Although Delta is lowering ticket prices it is also raising ticket sales – improvement of the company’s income statement. And additional charges for the passenger bags will bring additional profits to the company.
