...ed 5- Lost Two themes satisfy the Lost Sheep: 1- Search to bring them back to Church 2- Recovery, healing, and purification ¨ Evangelism also has two themes: 1- Preach and spread the gospel 2- Plant non-believers in the church ¨ The work of ministry needs equipment and preparation ¨ Servants should be chosen from the saints of the church; non-believer à church à believer believer à spiritual care à saint saint à equip à servant ¨ St. Paul differentiates between babes in Christ and the spiritually mature (1Corinthians 3:1 – “And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ.”) ¨ God gave us the following five gifts so that we can carry out the work of ministry: 1. Evangelists – people who evangelize 2. Pastor – responsible for Spiritual Care and the Lost Sheep of the church 3. Teachers – Must teach the sound doctrines because without the Sound Doctrines and proper teachings, we are not building the Body of Christ. 4. Prophets – they were before Christ. God spoke to us through them and gave us the Old Testament. 5. Apostles – They came after Christ to give us the New Testament. ¨ Jesus is the corner stone that connects the prophets with the Apostles (Ephesians 2:20 – “having been built on the foundation of the Apostles and the Prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, “) B- Equipping: ¨ Jesus is our model in how He prepared his disciples for ministry ¨ There are five methods to prepare service and all five need to be used together: 1. Direct Teaching: ¨ Learning exists in three levels: 1. Pupil—passive learning 2. Student—active learning through studying 3. Disciple—Discipline by living with the teacher and learning through example 2. Teaching by example 3. Participation under direct supervision 4. Participation under indirect supervision 5. Unity of faith: ¨ It is important for the church of God to have one unity of faith because He is one and He is not an author of Confusion. Therefore, we should have one belief in God. NOTE: Monophesetism (meaning single mature) is something we do not believe in. It is the belief of either the humanity or the divinity of Jesus Christ. However, we do believe in Miaphesetism (meaning one compound nature from two). This is the belief of the Humanity and Divinity of Jesus Christ combined. St. Cyril first used this terminology. 2. The Knowledge of the Son of God: ¨ “The Kingdom of God” is the house of the Father. (1Corinthians 15:24 – “Then comes the end when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts and end to all rule and all authority and power.”) ¨ In order to inherit the kingdom, you must be an heir of God. God only has one Son, therefore, we need to be united with the Son of God in order to become heirs/children of God and inherit the kingdom. ¨ The Holy Spirit unites us with the Son through the Sacraments of the church ¨ Deification in Christ à we are partakers of the divine nature ¨ The knowledge of the Son of God is the union with the Son. We can’t know the son unless we have a relationship with Him and unite with Him through the sacraments. The sacraments help us have a good relationship with Jesus. 3. Mature Manhood: ¨ This specification is the fullness of the stature of Christ; to be “Chri...
