.... Appropriate self-disclosure involves much consideration. An affective way to test one’s own self-disclosure is the General Disclosiveness Scale (cited in DeFleur, Kearney, & Plax, 1998). My score for the intentional/unintentional portion was a 19 on a scale from 4 to 28. This is about average and means that my willingness or intent for self-disclosure is as such. This is true, as I usually only reveal myself to people I already trust. My score for the amount portion was 28, which is also average on a scale from 7 to 49. This indicates an average amount of self-disclosure. This is true for the same reason as my intentional/unintentional portion. My positive/negative score was 34, on a scale from 7 to 49. This means I am roughly the same with revealing positive or negative self-disclosures. This is true, as sometimes I accidentally reveal something negative about myself when I didn’t mean to, which makes me feel foolish. My depth/intimacy score was 15, which is lower on a scale from 5 to 35. This means that I am not that willing to disclose intimate things about myself. I only do this after I really trust someone. Finally, on the honesty/accuracy portion I scored a 31, which is a bit above average on a scale from 8 to 56. This means I put an above average amount of sincerity in my disclosure.
