School Prefect

...are essential when it comes to being a great School Prefect. Leadership is a complex process by which a person influences others to accomplish a mission, task, objective, or vision and he or she directs the community in a way that makes it more cohesive and coherent. Some may command action and accomplish many tasks, but that simply makes you the boss. I believe that leadership makes people want to achieve high goals and objectives, while bosses tell people to accomplish a task or objective. As a prefect, my intentions are to help the Westminster community achieve higher goals. Implementing leadership qualities face-to-face are very difficult, but I always but forth my best effort in order to better the Westminster community for everyone. Qualities such as mental toughness, the ability to gain peer and community respect, obtaining good communication skills, and the willingness to accept responsibility all come with the package of becoming a School Prefect. Although many people may not agree with some of my actions or decisions, I will listen to their comments and, at the same time, remain focused on the one aspect that is very important to me, the Westminster community. The concept of respect confuses many people because they believe that if you attain a high position in a community, you should automatically gain respect. However, I believe that you must respect someone if you want them to respect you. It is not only important to gain respect from the faculty, but the rest of the community also. Although peer respect doesn’t reveal ability, it shows character and personality. Respect is a quality that I believe corresponds to me will because I respect everyone no matter what. It does not matter if they do or do not like me. I treat others how I would like to be treated. People who know me know that I am always cheerful, respectful, and determined to get my tasks completed. At the same time, I am always trying to get my point across. As Rene G.
