...dings. We were given a lad to study these properties more closely. Materials List: Stethoscope Blood pressure cuff Methods: During the first part of the lab we practiced taking blood pressure. We did this by tightening the cuff around each others arms and listening to the Korotkoff sounds that the arteries. When we heard the first sound we recorded that as the systolic or the arterial pumping and when the sound stopped we recorded that as the diastolic pressure. We then recorded the systolic pressure over the diastolic pressure. We then moved on to the second part of the lab in which we experimented farther with the blood pressure. I recorded blood pressure right after Hunter lay down. I then took the pressure again when he lay down for five minutes. I then took his pressure after he stood up and after he stood for two minute. I then had him do 2 minutes of rigorous exercise and I took his blood pressure every minute for six minutes. I then had him put his opposite hand in ice water and I took his blood pressure for the last time. Data: Lying down: 110/70, right arm, 3/21, 8:15 After 5 minutes of lying down: 110/65, right, 3/21, 8:20 Right after standing: 120/75 right arm, 3/21, 8:21 Standing for 2 minutes: 115/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:23 After rigorous exercise: 130/55 right arm, 3/21, 8:28, pulse pressure was 75 1 minute later: 115/60 right arm, 3/21, 8:29, pulse pressure was 55 2 minutes later: 115/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:30, pulse pressure was 35 3 minutes later: 115/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:3, pulse pressure was 35 4 minutes later: 115/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:32, pulse pressure was 35 5 minutes later: 115/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:33, pulse pressure was 35 30 seconds after in ice water: 118/70 right arm, 3/21, 8:25 30 seconds later: 120/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:25 1 minute later: 130/80 right arm, 3/21, 8:26 1 minute 30 seconds later: 140/75 right arm, 3/21, 8:26 Conclusions: When Hunter laid down his blood pressure dropped a little. After lying down his blood pressure stayed about the same the diastolic pressure then dropped a little. I attribute this fall to the fall in activity that Hunter had to perform when standing. The legs muscles stopped working so he needed less blood and the blood pressure went...
