Personification i. One could also read the poem as though the bird represents a human and how he goes about his life everyday-simply gathering what he needs to survive. 2. Imagery a. The imagery is very nature-oriented. The reader can easily visualize that little bird’s activities. b. The bird’s actions emphasize nature’s simplicity. c. “And he rolled his feathers;” this part of the poem allows the reader to imagine the little bird preparing to fly off. Birds usually prepare to take off somewhat slowly; the poem also kind of slows down. d. “Than oars divide the ocean” clearly manifests the bird gracefully flying through the air. e.
