In leaving Ryan to his fate, they risk losing something much greater than their lives; they could run the risk of losing the war. 2.Releasing the German- Despite vehement objections from his own soldiers, Captain Miller released the only surviving German soldier from the Radar Station firefight. Unknown to all of them, this same German Soldier would be the one that would take Captain Miller’s life at the end of the movie. If Captain Miller would have just killed the German Soldier, he would have never had one of his own soldiers decide to leave and desert the unit. This would have never caused the First Sergeant to hold the soldiers life at a point of his pistol. This would have kept the secret identity of the Captain, instead to settle everyone down. The Captain was forced to tell everyone he was a schoolteacher. ...
