Scientists think that the droplets containing can live for hours on elevator buttons. If this is true, in a matter of 10 hours, an entire building of people could have SARS without even knowing it. There are many symptoms for SARS. The illness usually begins with a fever above 100.4 degrees F. In 2-7 days, the patients may develop a dry, non-productive cough that might progress to the point where not enough oxygen is going to the brain. In 10-20% of the cases, artificial breathing was need for the patient. Because the incubation period for SARS is 2-7 days, people don’t know they have it and do not request proper medical attention. There is no current cure for SARS; however, scientists are working around the clock to find one.
