... the Baptist Student Union on campus with my roommate Angie. The Stage One on Monday nights at 9:01 p.m. consisted of praise and worship songs with a special guest speaker Ashley Austin. Ashley Austin talked about Jesus Christ and about his testimony on how his life was before he got saved. The way he described his life as a total wreck until he found Jesus Christ. After he was done speaking, I took the initiative to sit down and apply for the Baptist Student Union leadership team. Someone sat down with me at the table; I looked up from what I was doing. It was James (Jamie) Wiliford. Jamie was someone I knew in high school, but he graduated a year behind me. Jamie asked me how I was doing and we talked about my home life. Then he suggested taking a walk outside, we walked around for twenty minutes all the while sharing with me the salvation of Jesus Christ. Jamie asked me, “ Who do you think you are in the eyes of God?” I said, “ I think I have a good heart.” “ It’s not all about having a good heart, its all about giving one hundred percent to God, if you make this decision you have to give it your all. You have to give your life to Jesus Christ. He will forgive your sins and wash everything away. You will be a new person,” Jamie replied. I thought for a moment. I thought about all the things I had done in the past and how I knew that there was something missing in my life. Jamie asked me if I wanted to get saved and I said yes.
