In the case of Roe vs. Wade, this logic was used to show that a Texas Law was unconstitutional, when it restricted a women’s right to an abortion in the first stages of pregnancy. When this was presented to the court they rules in favor of Roe, and said that women were to be given the right to an abortion in Texas, within the first 6 months of pregnancy. This ruling changed the social and cultural attitudes of many people. It created a new, basic constitutional right for women in the right to privacy, which the Supreme Court had created only a few years earlier. That right to privacy was broad enough to encompass a woman’s right to terminate her pregnancy.
