Romantic or Not?

...is one of his most recognizable pieces. It starts out with him thinking about his lost love, Lenore, who is deceased. Then all the sudden he hears a knocking at the door and for a short time he thinks its Lenore, who has come back from the dead. He then goes to the door and realizes that there is nobody there, so he tries to rationalize what made the knocking noise to calm himself down. This is an example of how in romantic literature he used the idealism principle. He also used the adventurous and love of nature quite often by giving detail to the surroundings outside. He also uses the interest in the past quite often because in the story “The Raven”, it opens with him reading ancient lore and thinking about his dead love interest. The second story that I read was “The Black Cat”. This story was much more gruesome then “The Raven”, in many ways. It first displays the principle of the love of nature by showing how much he loves animals and his own cat. Then he soon grows sick of the cat because it is over affectionate. He becomes obsessed with how the cat is always following him around and soon starts thin...
