Right or Wrong
...ant. Eight and a half months later a baby girl Rachel is born with no questions asked. Jennifer believes Rachel will grow up the same as all other children, but “…people will comment on the striking similarity that exists between mother and child” (Silver 363). Jennifer has faith that Rachel will not hold a grudge against her when she tells her. Silver next brings up the controversy that the story delivers. Jennifer will bring up Rachel no different than any other parent, but the real harm is in whether Rachel will still have her own “unique identity”. Natural cloning happens everyday with the birth of twins and although they pretty much resemble each other, they each still carry their own “unique identity” by their personality. One major issue with cloning that could arise if cloning is made legal, would be people trying to steal other’s cells because they are famous, but the author adds that just because one is cloned from a famous person does not mean the clone would become famous also. Individuals become famous from hard work, not their cells. I have a split opinion on cloning. I feel God should be the only one who should create a human being because each human being is a miracle. Humans should have no right to interfere with that. But on another note, God makes humans and knows their life before they are even born. Therefore, God knew that we would be capable of cloning a human. Did God plan for man to take over his job? I have a negative influence toward Jennifer. There will be no father in her child’s life and a father’s influence is crucial in a child’s life. She is being selfish because she is denying her child a chance for that relationship. Jennifer feels it is all right to have a child because she can support it. Having children is not about giving them the best material things, but something that does not come in the form of money. I do not feel Rachel is really hers. She did not make her. Yes, she originated from her genes, but I have to agree with Silver when he says Rachel is really Jennifer’s parents’ child. I never really though...
