...ry respectful answers are always expected but often times not reciprocated, because the boss or the professors don't expiereince consequences for not extending the same courtesy. This gives respect a bad taste to many who already don't like being told what to do or being condecended; not to mention having to recieve orders respectuflly. "Respect your elders" for example insists on an inherant respect for those who you very well may not respect at all or do not deserve such, making respect a veil for contempt. Reverence on the other hand embodies the ideology of respect but with the addition of sincerity. Because reverence carries emotional content, it makes it above and beyond the everyday front. If someone is revered than that menas that they have accomplished something or touched someone in a unique way and unique situations maintain the true meaning of the word versus that of respect which is blanketed over countless subjects.
