... something to do with pi, the Koran, and its wanted by the C.I.A. It’s a maddening tale where everyone is out to get the number and nobody is what they appear to be. In 2000 Aronofsky released his second feature film Requiem For a Dream, which is based on a book baring the same name by his favorite author Hubert Selby. Requiem For a Dream is a story about four main characters battling their addictions and chasing their dreams. The four main characters are Harry and Sara Goldfarb, Tyrone, and Marion. Harry is the central character because he is the link between the other three characters. Marion is his girlfriend, Tyrone is his best friend, and Sara is his mother. Harry’s story is this…Harry is trying to make enough money so that his girlfriend Marion can start up her own clothing store and the two of them will be able to live a normal life together. The problem is, Harry’s a heroine junkie and the only way he can make money is by selling drugs. So, Harry and his friend Tyrone develop a plan to cut up what heroine they have and sell it off, in order to purchase a “pound of pure”. In the beginning Harry and Tyrone’s business was going well and they were making good profit. But then Tyrone got arrested and they lost most of there money. To make problems worse the streets were dry meaning that heroine was scarce and it seemed that no matter what they tried they couldn’t get their hands on any. So Harry and Tyrone decided that if they made a trip down to Florida they could score some heroine down there and be the only ones in New York to have any. On their way down to Florida they stopped to shoot up and Tyrone sees that Harry’s arm is badly infected where he has been shooting up. Tyrone tries to convince Harry not to shoot up into the wound but he does any way. Harry’s arm began to bother him to the point that he needed to be taken to the hospital. At the hospital both Harry and Tyrone were arrested. A guard at the jail noticed Harry’s arm and had him sent to the medical ward where it was amputated. Marion is Harry’s girlfriend, and she to enjoys the heroine. Harry lives with her in her apartment that her parents pay for. Marion’s parents give her money and pay for her apartment as long as she stays in therapy. But since she quit therapy she has to have sex with her therapist so that he doesn’t tell her parents that she stopped going. When they run out of heroine and Harry leaves for Florida, Marion has sex with some guy in order to score some more. After she runs out of that the only way she can get more is to go to this underground strip club sort of place. Except that this place isn’t exactly a strip club and she has to do more than just strip. Marion’s story wraps up with her on the phone with Harry, asking him to come home before he gets his arm cut off. Tyrone is Harry’s best friend and much like Harry and Marion Tyrone has a problem. Yep, that’s right Tyrone is all about the smack as well. Tyrone is the one who has all connections for them to get them the drugs. For a whole summer “business” was booming for Tyrone and Harry. After a while Tyrone gets a meeting with his “source” and is told since he has been doing a good job he is gonna get “promoted”. It’s at this point that every thing takes a turn fo...
