The northern part became Northern Ireland, and the rest remaind Ireland. However, this was only a compromise, neither side was pleased with the decision. However, the Catholics believed that they were put on the wrong side of the border. They believed that they had been forced to leave their political heritage to reside in the northern part of Ireland. Although, the Protestants, now forced to reside in the rest of Ireland believe that their history reports say they should be residing in the North. Thus, both religions want what the other has. This has caused many problems between the two countries. Both religions believe that they are the victims, they both have been forced to reside where they don’t feel they belong.
