The machines used to run these test are scanners and machines with rays to get a clear photo of the inside of the body. “There are many different types of radiological technologist that have specific job titles in their specialization. They need them in hospitals and other medical facilities. “Recruiters are ask to qualify as many as possible in this field.” (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians) The hours of a radiologist range in many hours and possibly days. “Employment of radiological technologist is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2010, as the population and ages increase. Most full-time radiological technicians work about 40 hours a week. (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians) They have evening, weekend, or on call hours. “Most part-time jobs are hard to find in this filed but are available. In 2000 radiological technologist held about 167,000 jobs. Only about 1 in 5 worked part-time. More than have of those technologist worked in hospitals.” (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians) The others were in doctor offices, and clinics. Some radiologist travel and are always looking for ones that will, especially in this field. Most get to choose where they want to go and how long they want to stay. Training in this field is really important. In order to get into the radiology field you either have to have a degree or a license in a training program. You can prepare in hospitals, colleges, and universities. The training programs are formal and range from one to four years depending on what exactly you are wanting to do. One year being just basics, four years you can be further into actually working with x-rays, and other diagnostic imaging. Most hospitals require an associate’s degree, and possibly a bachelor’s degree. A master’s degree is one of the radiological technologist desires for becoming a supervisor, administrator, or teaching for the many types of positions offered in this field. “Many can become specialist in performing CT’s with a higher degree. Some also have enough schooling to become sales representatives with equipment, and some even manufacturers.” (Radiologic Technologists and Technicians) The way they decide on how much they are going to be making may come from training or the degree you have also. “The median annual earnings were $36,000 in 2000. Fifty percent earned between $30,220 and $43,380. The lowest ten percent earned was less than $25,310. The highest ten percent was more than $52,000.
