After dinner, we walk together, hand in hand, on the lighted paths until we reach the gleaming ice rink in front of Rockafeller Center. We skate around the rink a few times and then I bring her to the centre of the ice rink and I tell her I have something important to say. Her eyes are twinkling amongst the moonlight and pure white snow is floating everywhere. I give her a kiss and I go down on one knee and the words pour out… Today is my thirtieth birthday. I feel old and depressed but I have to get ready to go out to celebrate with my boyfriend. If it were not for the fact that I love Ryan so much, I would be at home sulking in front of the television with a huge tub of double fudge rocky road ice cream. I figure I should wear my dazzling red strapless dress to put less focus on my aged face. Ryan comes to pick me up at my apartment and he brings me a colossal bouquet of red and white long stem roses. I am genuinely surprised and touched and I wonder why he is giving me such a stunning bouquet of roses when he has never even given me a single daffodil before.
