... the ones who the other animals look to for guidance. So if the pigs control the population, then if they lie, everyone will go along with them thinking that it is the truth. When the pigs lie it affects the whole community of animals because now that the animals have their trust in the pigs, they will look to them for guidance, leadership, advice, and a political figure to look up to. When the farm hears the pigs speak, they believe that they are hearing the truth and what is the best for their community; but, in reality they are hearing lies that are concealed from the public. If the pigs would have done this to every issue in Animal Farm, the farm wouldn’t have been able to withstand outer forces, such as Mr. Jones. The pigs did use propaganda in almost every way to manipulate the public and were successful in their efforts. Propaganda affected the whole community because if propaganda was never used, that would have meant that the rebellions would not had happened, the windmill would not had been set up, and their whole environment would not had been altered. The rebellions would had never happened because the pigs would not had rallied against Mr. Jones. They also would not had manipulated the rest of the animals to be their, “slaves, armies, and work force” for them, so that they could just kick back and watch the process of Animal Farm being rebuilt. Napoleon had a very major influence over Boxer, who happened to be the animals most productive animal. Boxer even made a motto just to prove his loyalty, “Napoleon is always right.” If Napoleon had this sort of mind control over all the animals, the whole farm would had been in for a real surprise. In this case the ends do not justify the means because the animals do not follow along with the orders in the final result. The ends are to have complete control over the residents, which would had been achieved through propaganda. The pigs plan throughout the novel had been a success until the conclusion of the book.
