One of the number one violators of the Intellectual Property Rights are conducting their business in the Philippines. The government should act on this because it can only do more harm for our striving economy. --Against Piracy— Since the Philippine economy and the jobs of the Filipino people are affected, it is just right to act upon the violators of the Intellectual property rights. The government assigned a former governor and movie actor, Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., as head of the Videogram Regulatory Board (VRB). His primary objective is to stop these pirates from violating the intellectual property rights and thus, stopping piracy. A group of former stuntmen have formed a group to stop the piracy. Since the piracy has affected the Movie Industry, it has also affected the jobs, life and the families of the stuntmen. Earning a measly $5 a day, the group of stuntmen raided malls and the streets of Manila to discourage the vendors from selling pirated DVDs and CDs. Raiding these vendors are pretty dangerous. In more than one incident, vendors have fought back by throwing stones and battles at the raiding party. The job is really dangerous but the group of stuntmen said that they are used to a lot of pain and it is better for them to fight against the people who put them out of their jobs. --Fair Wage and The Ethics of Care— The stuntmen are only paid $5 dollars each which is just about the minimum wage for Filipinos but way under in terms of the Americans. Obviously, in an American’s point of view, the stuntmen are not paid fairly because it is way beyond their minimum wage. On the other hand, in the Philippines, this payment is just right for a blue collar worker. However, considering the risks involved, they deserved to be paid higher than just minimum wage. To pay them with just the minimum wage will be a violation of “Fair Wage” and “The Ethics of Care”.
