It’s very hard to determine whether the majority of the younger age groups who watch wrestling, can tell what is real from what is fake. If a child believes that Santa Clause and the tooth fairy are real, what could be the extent of realism to the same child. Whether or not a child‘s parents explain that wrestling is scripted, the majority still don’t understand how something that looks so real can indeed be fake. This is where a major question arises. If a parent doesn’t want their child to watch wrestling, who’s responsibility does it become? Most problems that exist between kids and wrestling should be aimed at their parents. An adolescents behavior reflects their own parent’s responsibility. Too many parents see behavioral changes in their children due to wrestling’s “over the edge” style, yet the same parents don’t stop them from watching it. A thirteen year old who says “suck it” and frequently does obscene hand gestures should properly be dealt with through their parent or guardian. This has been seen as a widespread problem among youngsters. Another great behavioral change, with mostly large groups of teenagers, has been what is known as backyard wrestling. It sometimes can be hard for younger age groups to take out their frustration, so they result to their own style of wrestling against their friends. Thousands of these backyard wrestling organizations exist today and the numbers are rapidly growing. As the number of these backyard federations grows, the number of kids that are risking their lives for cheap thrills also increases.
