The characters in the book, especially Elizabeth Bennet, travel a lot. But the setting is mostly focused on the Longbourn estate in rural England. It occurred around 1797-1815. B. The point of view is third-person omniscient. We know what the characters are thinking but the point of view is mostly Elizabeth Bennet’s. C. I believe that the role of setting is crucial to the story because it shows the class of the characters in the novel, which is one of the themes. IV. Plot A. The conflict type is Person vs. Society. Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennet try to overcome the upperclass society’s views on someone marrying a person of inferior class to them. B. I believe that the climax of the story is Mr. Darcy’s second proposal to Elizabeth. In this point, they successfully surmount over their prejudices , towards each other, their pride and what other people thought of them. V. Imagery A. Jane Austen was very descriptive of the characters and estates. But she rarely used any metaphors, similes, and personifications. B. She portrays the characters and events of the novel in a humorous tone mixed with irony. In her words, “light and bright, and sparkling.” VI. Theme – The three major themes of this novel is pride, prejudice, and love. I think they are because the characters are filled with pride and prejudice, which gets in the way of love. VII. Opinions – I really liked the book, it actually is now my favorite one. I’ve never read a book as old as this novel. I usually read more modern novels since the old ones bore me. I guess...
