Preventing Anterior Knee Pain

After the rehabilitation, which took from 4-6 months, the patients returned to full functional capabilities once they felt their quadriceps muscle was back to normal strength and they had to confidence to get back to competing. After the subjects had returned to activity, they were asked to complete a questionnaire designed to rate their perceived pain of the anterior knee with activities such as sport, walking, prolonged sitting, etc. Once the data was collected, it was compared to the control group by determining whether a correlation existed between anterior knee pain and age, and also between surgical subjects with the ACL and also patellafemoral instabilities (unable to regain full hyperextension) compared to that of members of the control group without any patellafemoral instabilities. The control group consisted of 122 intercollegiate athletes with no previous knee injury.
