Another problem, which in recent years is causing the decent of the Conservative Party, is the frequency in which leadership elections are held. Because of these elections, the Conservative party is forced to participate more frequently, and become more involved with the everyday aspects of the Parliament. The Conservative party doesn’t understand how to participle this much. The Labour party isn’t affected by this change because they are accustom to this already. A large change in the Labour Party procedures occurred in 1979, which helped shape a new Labour Party. A mandatory change in MPs and a new way of electing party leaders helped make the Labour party safe for socialism, and has made the Labour party more sought after. The Conservative Party has also changed its procedures, but with opposite reaction. The Conservative Party has changed it procedures to resemble the Labour Party. They have established elections with the MPs, and has allowed challenging of the leaders. This only produced a harder to distinguish political system. It caused the once conservative high class society to stray from the cause. Another recent advantage the Labour Party has over the Conservative Party is their determination to gain power, and their attention to the people. The Labour Party has recently began using “opinion polls, advertising, and pubic relations” to gain the advantage over the Conservative Party.
