A person with DID will have two or more distinct personalities and be able to detach themselves from each of them. DID is easily misdiagnosed because there are many similar traits that are common in other psychiatric disorders. Patients usually keep journals to monitor their thoughts. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a result of a traumatic experience where the person has experienced a severe or abnormal trauma.
