An estimated 15,000 undergraduate students and 18000 graduate students are known to be on Miami’s campus presently. The campus spreads over 1,100 acres, with tree shaded lawns bordered by modified Georgian style buildings. Class sizes range from 20 to 300. The student/teacher ration is about 24:1. Miami University is a 4 year state school. There is no religious affiliation connected with Miami. (Miami.muohio.edu). When applying for Miami, admission is based upon your strength of curriculum and test scores (ACT and/or SAT I) . Grade point average and class rank are also considered. Any extracurricular activities could also improve your chances on admission. A completion of an essay and recommendations are also a huge impact on the decisions (Miami.muohio.edu). Miami excels in student run organizations. Having nearly 300 student groups, students are busy on weekends, playing intramural sports, taking part in our 300 clubs, working in study groups, and going uptown to listen to bands (Miami.muohio.edu). All freshman are required to live in resident halls which are small (just three stories) and sponsor many social activities and sports teams so you can get to know people easily and make lifelong friendships (Miami.muohio.edu). Tuition for Miami is $7,666 a year for residents and $8,724 for non residents. Room and board is $6,240. Recently, Miami was commended by the President and continues to get positive praises. B. The Ohio State University The Ohio State University is located in Columbus, Ohio. Nearly 2 hours from my house, it isn’t much of an inconvenience to me (www.osu.edu). Ohio’s campus is The average class size for Ohio State is about 28. The student/teacher ration is about 26 to 1 (www.osu.edu). Ohio State is a 4 year Public College. It’s located in an urban area of Ohio. There is no religious affiliation connected to Ohio State (www.osu.edu). When applying to Ohio State, you may be given additional consideration if you exceed minimum requirements in math, natural sciences or foreign language, you attend a competitive high school or if you provide cultural, economic, racial, and geographic diversity. Even if you possess particular outstanding talents, have been involved in extracurricular activities, have your high school performance was adversely affected by physical, mental, or learning environment factors. Also, you are eligible for and will benefit from organized support services at Ohio State. Your class rank, SAT/ACT scores and GPA are also stressed (www.osu.edu).. Ohio State has nearly 300 student organizations including many religious and volunteer coordinated student run groups. Sports are another big part of Ohio State. While OSU competes in basketball and football, the women tend to excel in soccer and volley ball. Ohio State is nationally known for a number of their off campus sports programs. There are many sororities and fraternities among Ohio State (www.osu.edu).. There are more than 28 resident halls located on Miami’s campus. The Halls are within 5-7 minutes walking distance to class. There are more than 30 live learning environments Tuition for in state applicants is $5,664 for 12 quarter hours. Out of state tuition is around $ 15, 807 Room and board is an estimated $6,291. Financial Aid is available to applicants (www.osu.edu). Ohio State’s graduate programs are rated as the best in Ohio and remain among the top programs in the country (‘Exploring Ohio State’). C. The University Of Cincinnati The University of Cincinnati is located in Cincinnati, Ohio. The campus is within 10 miles from my home (uc.edu.com). UC is made up of 109 campuses. All the buildings are equal to 8,461,710 square feet. All campuses make up 421.5 acres of land. The total number of student enrollments this year is 32,975. The average class size is about 26 students. The ratio of students to teachers is 24 to 1 (uc.edu.com). Cincinnati is a four year public school. It is located in an urban area. The school has no religious affiliation. There are many student run religious organizations, however (uc.edu.com). When applying for admission to UC, they take into consideration your ACT/SAT scores as well as your class rank and GPA. They also look at your extracurricular activities. You must have completed the usually guidelines to enter college (uc.edu.com). Cincinnati has over 250 student run organizations for the students. Among them are religious, hobbies and academic clubs. Sports and intramural are also among the 250 (uc.edu.com). The university consists of many resident halls in which the students live. The halls have meals, television along with other incentives. Many freshman live there, some upperclassmen move back to resident halls when they return (uc.edu.com). Tuition for the University Ohio resident undergraduates is about $5,993 per year. For an Out of State Resident Undergraduate, it’s about $15,202 per year (uc.edu.com). UC's Career Development Center ranks among the nation's best. The ranking, which includes career services, internships and co-op programs, was based on a national survey of guidance counselors. In all, 35 of the nation's colleges and universities were listed based on the excellence of their career services. UC placed in the top tier (13 colleges) of all regional entrepreneurial education programs, out of a field of more than 700 such program across the country.
