Polar Plot of Distance using Ultrasonic Sound
...ll be calculated to give the distance of the object. The calculating and pulse signal will be achieved on the PC. The project consists of three main sections transmitter, receiver, signal processing, and Personal Computer (PC) analysis of signal. Figure 1. Block Diagram of system The transmitter will send out a pulse at 40kHz. The transmitter circuit incorporates a trigger switch, so by supplying a voltage between 1 to 5 volts to the trigger input, the supply voltage to the transmitting transducer will be cut off and therefore cutting off the 40kHz signal. Vice versa when a pulse of 40kHz is transmitted, the trigger signal is grounded so a 10 volts supply will be active across the transmitting transducer. The receiving consisted of two separate circuits connected together. An amplifier circuit, which will be used to provide a gain of 100 to increase the received signal, therefore increases the signal-to-noise ratio. The second circuit is a signal-processing unit, which will analyse the signal received for any object detection. A voltage spike in the signal represents an echo of 40kHz from an object, and the time of flight will be the measurement of the object distances...
