Lucifer is never really one with the Earth; instead, he soars above merely a spectator. As he journeys to Heaven, he remembers the “revolt from awe,” in which he was initially cast down to Hell. The stars, which are personified as “The Brains of Heaven,” become aware of his presence and, as he makes it halfway, he is once again denied access and sent back to his sinister realm. Ultimately, Lucifer is engaging in a futile attempt to reach Heaven and is forever confined in his hell, expressing the theme that sometimes people can be bound to one particular place whether it is tangible or abstract.
