...setts, on January 19, 1809, the second of the three children of David Poe and Elizabeth (Arnold) Poe, both of whom were professional actors and members of a touring theatrical company. After Poes childhood was over he was off to the Army. In the Army he wrote a collection of poems, Tamerlane, and Other Poems. In 1835, Poe began to write short stories and he became the editor of the Southern Literary Messenger in Richmond. Over the next ten Years Poe established him self as a poet, a short story writer, and an editor. In both of the pomes, I noticed that they had a lot to do with life and life’s outcome whether it’s positive or negative. But, both poets used different strategies to get their ideas across to the reader. Edgar Allen Poe uses the metaphor of the bells to give different visualizations. He used the wedding bells as an example that represents happiness. He also uses the bells as an example of death. Poe stays away from the religion aspect unlike Mark Jarman. Poe only talks about real things. He uses action words to give an idea of what is going on in his poem. Poes use of redundant words is a way of trying to get his points to his readers.
