She asked her mother frantically how her cousin had been killed, her mother hesitated for a moment but realised she would have to tell her sooner or later. Nicole’s mother sat her down and explained to her that Teegan had been at a party and there had been a lot of drunk teenagers there with no responsible adults around. She explained in the most euphemism way possible that Teegan had been raped and brutally beaten by a gang of boys. Nicole ran to her room with tears falling heavily down her cheeks. She lay on her bed crying and thinking to herself what sort of sick, twisted people could do something so careless and vile. The person who was closer to her than anyone else on the entire planet, the person she did everything with and shared all her secrets with was gone. Teegan had been taken away from her for no reason and it made her feel sick to the stomach. Nicole sat wondering why this had happened and why these sorts of terrible things always happened to good people. She wondered what the last thoughts that went through Teegan’s mind would have been and said to herself “she would have been so scared”. Nicole felt angry and alone, she still couldn’t believe that this had actually happened. She thought to herself, Teegan didn’t deserve to die and no one deserves to die like that.
