Personal Goals as a Student
...he door. Still not finding the right job, I headed back to school to get my Associates degree. Finally, after just about 2 years I accomplished what I felt was a great success, I had my degree in computer programming and got my foot in the door with a good starting company. Now, I must build upon that feeling of accomplishment by getting my Bachelors degree in IT. I feel that in order for me to be successful throughout my career I need to continue working to get a better education. Technology and the computer industry are constantly changing and for me to keep from being left behind, I must be educated on the now. I know a lot of the technical stuff associated with my job, but there are a few areas I could definitely use some help on. Two major components are written and oral communication. I have never been good in these areas and going to UOP will help me since it is a major necessity to grasp and learn to use these skills in order to receive my degree. I want to be able to go out and buy that new car or move into that 4000 square foot house with 1+ acre of ground and the in ground swimming pool. I want to give my kids the best education I can afford along with all the other pleasures I wish I had as a child. For me to be able to ask for or even demand more money I would need the credentials to back me up, and getting my bachelors degree would certainly help in making more money. Continuing my education at the University of Phoenix will help me to make myself more marketable. If, for some reason I wanted or needed to leave the company I now work for, having my Bachelors degree in Information Technology would certainly be an eye catcher for a potential new employer. For me to go out there now and attempt to get an equal or better job in the same industry I am in now would be hard since so many employers are asking for applicants with a bachelors degree or better.
