.... It’s time to invest in my future and at the University of Phoenix I believe I will find that future. Obviously, my long-term goal is to obtain my degree. This will help me get a better job after military service or help me advanced if I decide to stay a little longer. Yet, my number one priority today is to finish this paper. A degree at the University of Phoenix will certainly meet my number one long-term educational goal. But in order to get there the yearly, monthly, and even weekly goals had to be addressed. I have divided my waking hours into 4 mayor categories: Personal, family, my job in the military, and College. Each category has its own long term and different stages of short-term goals. And all of them are closely interlink. When I become a student at the University of Phoenix, I had no choice but to rearrange my priorities. No more late night celebrations or watch movies until dawn. Now I’m force, in a good way, to focus on the path to personal excellence. Let’s take for instance my academic category. Let me get into some of the subcategories where I could improve as a person and as student at the University. First, It would be the language barrier. Its proper use has always been number one on my academic plans. I don’t have a specific date by which this will be accomplished. But as a wise Tibet monk would say “What’s important here is the journey not the destination.” I compare this process to a computer program working in the background, monitoring the day’s events. Every waken moment is an opportunity to learn. By doing the exercises and projects provided in my academic books, I will greatly improve my chances of reaching it. There is one thing I do everyday to contribute to my long-term goal, and that is to help my two sons, with their homework. Second, it’s Time Management. It’s harder than it seams and as with any other skill, it takes time, patience and a lot of practice. I’m not an expert in this area. I still have much to learn. Luckily, there is much information and help out there. I personally started carrying a day planer. What a wonderful time saving tool it is especially now, when I have no time to spare.
