... Information Processing, with a 4.0 grade point average. I really enjoyed the team aspect of learning in each course as this opened my thought processes, taught me how to contend with various behaviors, and how technologies from the "Computer Age" have assisted the business environment. The team presentations that were an integral part of the program of study, have given me the most satisfaction as I am able to work in small groups, brainstorm, and set the stage for an enjoyable gratifying ending to each course. The experience gained from the learning environment of team work will, I believe, carry over into my work environment and help lay the foundation for a successful and fulfilling business career. In recent months the necessity of acquiring a degree has become much more apparent after conversing with friends who have lost their jobs, and had a very difficult time finding new jobs because of their lack of education and minimal professional skills. A personal friend was recently let go from his position at a local manufacturing facility where he had been employed for over 20 years. During his tenure he was promoted from within the company to a managerial position, but never saw the need to complete his education beyond a few courses at a community college. Now he is sending his resume out via the Internet looking for a managerial position with other companies and has had limited success. He has even gone to the extent, enlisting the help of an employment company, to review his resume to make sure it is of the utmost standards, yet still no prospects for a management position have resulted in an employment opportunity. I might note he is 50 years old. I believe, had he taken the initiative to complete his education, the odds of acquiring another managerial position would be enhanced tremendously.
