Personal Desires in Business Area
...Next is belongingness. Belongingness is the need that I desire most. Personally, I like tough competition. I would like to start my own business, and compete with other companies. I may fail, but I will never back off until I succeed. The business world is full of tough competition. I feel that I belong there. In addition, I want esteem. I want esteem through my personal achievement as well as social esteem through recognition and respect from others. Finally, at the top of the hierarchy is self-actualization. I do not think people can be perfect, but I do believe that people could get better every single day. I want to seek some more of my potential through what I do. And I think the business world is a place that I can satisfy myself. The other motivation theory is McClelland’s Learned Needs theory. First of all, McClelland’s theory is need for affiliation. I desire to seek approval from others, to conform my wishes and expectations, and avoid conflict and confrontation. I want to have positive relationships with others. There is a Chinese idiom that can explain how important nAff is. “In the business area, a positive relationship with others is a beginning of your success.” Next is the need for power. This is one reason why I want to start my own business. I do not like to work under other people. I do not like that somebody tells me what to do. I would like to do something that I think is necessary. I would like to control other people instead other people controlling me. The last element of McClelland’s theory is the need for achievement. I love a challenge. I would love to accomplish some reasonably challenging goals through my own efforts. I ...
