If the teenagers are involved in such activities, it gives the parents a perfect opportunity to be involved in the child’s interests. Parents being involved in the same activities as their children can help them to feel more at ease to discuss certain issues with their parents, opposed to their peers. Rural and urban communities have a different influence on adolescences. Rural areas are limited in size which means less resources and facilities are available. This can have a positive or negative effect depending on the adolescent. Some youths may look to vandalism and attention seeking behaviors out of boredom, where as some will find extra-curricular activities to become involved with. Urban communities are much larger and are able to provide resources and activities after school hours. This helps in many cases to get youths off the streets and using their time wisely. To minimize the negative effect on peer pressure, parents, youths, school and community leaders must join together to be able to provide workable strategies to aid in teen behavior and transition from child age to maturity. A few good strategies to consider would be: The abolishment of stereotyping peers as being a negative affect on youths. Some peers will try to get you involved in drugs, going against instilled family values or not aiming for grades they are capable of.
