Paradoxes

...ldren can learn. I'm not proposing a new radical system of teaching, I am simply stating what is true. A major reason I love learning is because of my parents and past viola teacher, Yasuko Eastman. After realizing the conflict between learning and teaching, I began to see how a value was shaping who I am. This value, being "the rule of no absolutes" changed the way I think. Absolutes tend to restrict people's minds. This is because saying something is automatically and always true, will lead to a distorted perception. Furthermore, there will always be unanswered questions. Therefore, there are no grand absolutes. At this point if I were reading this, I would be wondering how "the rule of no absolutes" applies to normal everyday life. Well, for example, Canadian society is partially based on a government. This government is based on exact rules, such as the many laws regarding murder. But laws, such as those regarding murder, do not cover every single case. What about a drunk driver killing another drunk driver, is that murder? Or what about a murder caused by someone who is sleep walking (this is why the legal system sometimes seems so inefficient)? The previous laws, which are absolutes, will result in inconsistencies. But the previous statement suggests a paradox, so how can this be? A paradox is fundamentally a flaw in logic within a given set of rules. As I will illustrate, and as Kurt Godel discovered, paradoxes apply to any complex system of rules. Consider the following example. The English language is a system of rules. Although there are variations (again, the rule of no absolutes) among each individual or group of individuals, such as pronunciation or spelling, the basic idea is universal. Now, consider the following sentence: this sentence is false. Fundamentally, the basic set of rules in the English language is designed to make sense. Yet metacentric inconsistencies, such as the previous sentence, can be produced. The above paragraph hints at the absolution of no absolutions, and this (yet again) is another paradox. From the examples I have shown, and the infinitely more examples that I have not, it can be determined that a paradox will exist in a complex system based on absolutions ( another paradox!). The only way a paradox can be eliminated is by creating an eve...
