...tion. He was transferred to Auschwitz but the boy was left behind. The boy refused to talk. Two other men were also accused. The boy and the two other men were hung. The two adults died instantly but the boy was too light and suffered for a half an hour.(Schindler’s List) Likewise in Schindler’s List they also showed the struggle to maintain hope and faith to God. An example would be when Osker Schindler had the Jews come and work for him. That night when they had reached Schindlers factory, they were praying to God even though throughout the story all the drama and images in their mind would make them lose their faith in God they came back and prayed. (Schindler’s List) They got their faith in God restored it was amazing that in the end after all they went through they still loved God. “There was joy-yes, joy. Perhaps they thought that God could have devised no torment in hell worse than that of sitting there among the bundles, in the middle of the road beneath a blazing sun; that anything wound be preferable to that.”(Wiesel 14) An example in Night of that people underestimate what is real and optimistically believe that everything is going to be all right, is that in section one when everyone is going to get deported for Auschwitz the people don’t know what’s in store they think they are going to a happy place but they would later find out their destiny that Auschwitz, wasn’t no happy place but a concentration camp in which for a lot of the people will be there death. In Schindler’s List an example of that people underestimate what is real and optimistically believe that everything is going to be all right. It’s just like in section one the Jews go on the train to the first ghetto and then find out it’s a concentration camp. Also another example of those themes that is switched around, with people thinking pessimistically and believes everything is not going to be right. Is when men and women that Schindler had on his “list” were on the train and being brought to the factory. The men found out quickly that it’s going to be all right but the women were taking to a concentration camp where they were stripped, cut their hair and put them in a shower room, which they thought would be gas. (Schindler’s List) But they get transported back to factory to find out that everything is going to be ok. Another major theme of the two works are ways how one thing said or given somebody can change the whole outcome on their life. Lets first start off with Night throughout the whole novel Eliezer and his father (Chlomo) keep each other alive. During the selection at Buna, Eliezer’s infected foot that he could barely walk in, had to run in it so his number wasn’t seen. Eliezer was actually running while asleep, but the only thing keeping him from being caught was his father’s presence. “ My Father’s presence was the only thing that stopped me…. He was running at my side, out of breath, at the end of his strength, at his wit’s end. I had no right to let myself die. What would he do without me? I was his only support.”(Wiesel 82) But Eliezer life wasn’t the only one changed by and outcome, it was also Eliezer keeping his father alive an example would be when at the selection at Gleiwitz. Eliezers father did not pass the selection due to weakness and age, but Eliezer did pass the selection. “I slipped among the others. Several SS rushed to bring me back, creating such confusion that many of people on the left were able to come back to the right and among them, my father and myself. However, there were shot and some dead.”(Wiesel ...
