Packaging Waste

... would it be to completely destroy our world and knowing that it was because of us and our selfish ways? I know of many people who don’t recycle because it takes a little extra time to separate the recyclables from the non-recyclables or they have to take the recyclables to certain places which takes time, so it is just easier for them to throw everything all together and have the garbage man come pick it up. We have all become so spoiled with the convenience that our products give us today that many won’t switch to another product, even if it is more beneficial for the environment, if it means that it is not as convenient for us as the previous product. This is sad and a horrible attitude for us to have but unfortunately it is reality. It was really shocking that seventy percent of municipal solid waste is non-packaging materials. I would have though that packaging materials would have made up more of the solid waste that the non-packaging. It is stunning to think that fast food makes up less than one percent of municipal solid waste. With how many fast food restaurants America has, I would have thought it would have had a tremendous amount of make-up of our solid waste. It is amazing that the cost of dumping waste has gone up from five dollars in 1984 to one hundred fifty dollars in 87. This is a huge amount increase in price and it will mostly continue to increase in the future. What will it be fifty years from now? Are we going to run out of room for these landfills?
