He had a brother named Willie and a sister named Isola, his sister died at age 10. On April 19, 1876 Oscar’s father died. He left behind three illegitimate children, as well as Oscar and Willie. Oscar was very hurt by the death of his father, throughout his childhood, Oscar’s family was very poor. Oscar knew he had to work hard in school so he could possibly get a scholorship to a good college. As he evolved into a writer, he receive a Royal scholarship to Trinity College in Dublin.
