... knew the day would be ruined if they stayed in Chicago instead of going elsewhere. She even accuses Calvin of wasting money on a car that would not solve the more fundamental problem. Calvin is ready to respond but decides not to. Which I found was interesting because Calvin could have responded but he chose not to and is instead apologetic to her. In my opinion Calvin seems to be a much better parent then Beth is. To have a child that attempted to commit suicide and just want to forget about it is unforgivable. Although she was troubled by it, she seems to be in denial of it happing again. What Beth has to come to realize is that all people who are potentially suicidal, will try more than once to end their life. We also see that Conrad is in somewhat ways similar to Beth. Like ...
