Only humans can have rights
...y animals wouldn’t exist if we didn’t raise them for our use. The animals we use are happier because they are fed and protected. To be consistent you have to stop using animals for such things as plowing; that is impossible in the world as it is. Some people, e.g., Eskimos, must kill and eat animals. It is extremely hard to find any vegetables in a place where it snows everyday. The Bible gives humans dominion over animals. Morals are a human construction; it is thus irrational to try to apply them to animals. Animals don’t care about us, therefore, we need not care about them. We don’t try to stop predators from killing, so we shouldn’t be stopped. In Nature animals kill and eat each other. Supports of animals rights say that when you kill animals they suffer. They have feelings and feel pain. It is wrong make animals go through something they don’t deserve. “The legislator ought to prevent everything which may serve to lead to cruelty,” said Jeremy Bentham (One of those who are supporting animal rights). I totally disagree with the fact that animals suffer and how animals feel pain. The animals are killed so fast they don’t feel or know anything. How can something that is dead suffer? Humans are at the top of the food chain. Animals are just machines. Animal have no souls. Animals don’t feel pain. Humans suffer more; thus, in a utilitarian tradeoff, humans will prevail. There’s no adequate definition of suffering. For those who support Animal rights stated that those who perform experiments on animals everyday are crossing the “enough” line. They have no rights to perform experiments on animals such as frogs, rats, etc. They feel it is wrong to perform experiments on an animal that hasn’t even caused any trouble to you.
