Old Man With Wings
...scribes his age, or the way he looks in general. The modern church says that the angels are in good health and very clean being just like God is. The Bible says that angels are perfect and there are no diseases in heaven. The old man looks like that he has gone through hell and back in the way that he looks and angels are not supposed to look like that, supposedly to the church. His wings are filled with parasites and he is dirty all over from head to toe. When the old man and the child finally come into contact with each other after the child can walk, both of them come down with the chicken pox at the same time. For one thing, the old man would not be able to withstand going through chicken pox at the age that he was unless he was actually a being from heaven or hell. Another thing is that an angel is not able to get sick or have impurities on their bodies like this old man did in the story. This man was the totally contradicting to what the bible had said what an angel should look like or act like. That is why I believe that the old man was a creature from the devil, which in other words he was a demon sent to earth by the devil. Second, the being had some pretty awkward miracles. These so called miracles came to people who needed help, but the way that it helped them was in a very awkward way. For example, there was a blind man that lived in the village. The blind man’s eyes never healed so that he could see, but instead the blind man grew three new teeth. This is a miracle in a way, but the man wanted to be able to see. Another example is the person who was paralytic, or in other words could not walk. The paralytic thought that maybe the old man could help him to walk, but nothing like that happened. Instead, he some how won the lottery. Another example of one of his odd miracles is that of the leper. The leper was covered in sores from head to toe, the leper thought that the old man could cure him. Instead of curing him of his sores he grew sunflowers out of them. All these consolation miracles were bringing down the reputation of the angel to be more like a demon than an angel. People saw this act as an act of mocking the people of the town instead of trying to help them like an angel is supposed to do. These miracles were not totally bad miracles, but they were not what the town people wanted in the beginning. Out of all those miracles came a few that went well for some of the people of the town. For instance, Pelayo and Elisenda made a lot of money from the creature. They were able to build a two story house and have money left. So the angel, in the long run, had a few bad miracles which made him look like a demon, but he also had a few that were not asked for, but made there lives better in some way. Finally, the creature was taking up space in the yard and not doing very much. He was becoming a pest to the family for just sitting their. After all the people had left because of the woman who was turned into a spider came into town the yard was clear. They did not have the heart to throw him out so they let him stay. He would pop up all over the house, and Pelayo and Elisenda thought that he had duplicated himself and they were going to go crazy with all of them around the house. The creature was not looking as good as use to and thought that he was not going to be able to even survive his first winter there. He not only survived ...
