...r attacks surrounding Washington, DC crushed many hearts of families and friends, but also left everyone in a state of doubt as to where our country was headed. As I turned on the TV to examine what had happened, it was the top story on every news channel. The whole country was scared and confused as to what steps they should take next. But at the same time however, we looked at this event as just something else that had happened and made the headlines for that week. From the very beginning when everything took place, it made me realize things that I had taken for granted and forgotten about, and this event was really significant in the fact that nothing else throughout the year had affected me like this. As a teenager, the things I valued at the time weren’t what they should have been. Seeing all age groups of people being killed without ever expecting it, made me realize how quickly everything can be taken away. On the other hand, it also showed how much our country has made killings and other horrible acts a “normal” thing to do. It does make the headlines for a week or so, but eventually everybody goes back to their daily lives and doesn’t think a thing about it.
