'Of Mice and Men is a very pessimistic story all in all, for, as the plot builds up, the lonliness of so many characters comes into focus, each one, with their own reasons for discomfort. There is Lennie, a small child in the body of a man, Candy a withering swamper, who only wants the comfort and security of a place to live when he becomes too old. Crooks is another, a person who has livid his whole life with the sting of racism, and also 'Curleys Wife' a women so isolated and despised, she doesnt even have a name.
