In a study back in 1999 data showed that 27 percent of 6 to 19 kids were overweight. This number had tripled since a study back in 1970. Children need to be free of this deadly plague if they wish to be a healthy, old, and alive adult. Children that are overweight will likely become obese adults or overweight adults. Children are fragile beings, and by being overweight children put them selves in a state of desocialization and depression. The weapons for battle against obesity begin with the child and adult. The child’s diet should consist of nutritional values such as: proper vitamins, minerals, and proteins. The food pyramid, or your primary weapon against obesity, should be followed to the dot. Any diet should consist of low calories and high protein, but the parent needs to keep essential nutrients in the food for their children. For children the weight loss should be gradual and not steep. A pound every week should be efficient. This battle plan must be implanted in to the child’s mind in order to win the battle when the child reaches adulthood. Before a child starts a dietary plan a parent must consult a dietician/nutritionist for health risk reasons. The wrong diet for a child could cause severe health risk like anorexia. Obesity is the silent plague associated with premature death, diabetes, cancer, and breathing problems. When a person gains weight he/she will also gain a higher risk of dying. When a person that is obese says that they feel good about their body, they are actually quite saying that they feel good about death. Diabetes is one of the major health risk when a person feels good about being obese. NAASO states, “A weight gain of 11 to 18 pounds increases a person’s risk of developing type 2 diabetes to twice that of individuals who have not gained weight.” They also go on and state, “Over eighty percent of people with diabetes are overweight or obese.” Obesity affects the person no matter where they go or want to do. Obesity directly effects how one feels about self, limits one’s mobility, and also limits what kind of job he/she can get based on job discrimination. In the long battle of losing weight the person will feel the benefits of their weight loss. Losing excessive fat will gratefully lower one’s blood pressure, blood sugar, and stabilize one’s cholesterol level. Not only will the person’s health improve, but also society will start to accept the person for losing the weight. Losing the excessive fat will make the body more acceptable. There are many methods a person can do to help lower their weight. Physical activities will assist in weight control and factor to other benefits.
